User Role in an Integrated & Flexible Energy-System

Presented by Kirsten Gram-Hanssen.

This course is tailored to students and others with an interest in flexible energy-systems.

The course will explain how energy production from renewable sources fluctuate depending on wind and sun, whereas the consumption follows social and biological cadences.

An efficient energy-system demands the best possible temporal coherence between consumption and production of energy, since energy storage is both expensive and resource heavy.

Attempting to regulate the consumption of energy is called Demand Side Management (DSM). DSM includes nudging consumers to both minimize their consumption, but also to be mindful of when they consume, but before one attempts to make an impact on these habits, it is important to understand what drives them.
